Kooza
Kooza is the 20th production by Cirque du Soleil. It was originally created by artistic director Luc Tremblay to capture the two circus traditions of acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. There was origninally 3 hours of content that had to be cut down to two hours for its debut in Montreal in April 2007.
The acts:
- Charivari
- Contortion
- Solo Trapeze
- Unicycle Duo
- Clowns
- High Wire
- Intermission
- Wheel of Death
- The Pickpocket
- Juggling
- Chairs Balancing
- Teeterboard
The show is two hours long plus a 30 minute intermission. The intermission gives you plent of time to get food, drinks, stretch you legs, use the restroom, and take pictures. Below is a picture I took of the tent at the show in Baltimore.

The name of the show comes from the Sanskrit word “koza”, which means “box” or “chest”. The name was chosen because the theme of the show is supposed to be a “circus in a box”.
The Wheel of Death is something that Cirque Du Soleil has never performed under the big top before. This is probably the most thrilling, heart pumping acts of the show.

The Teeterboard is the last act of the show. In this act, the performers propel each other into the air doing quintuple twisting somersaults. They finish the act off by doing the same type of stunts on stilts as depicted in the picture below.

My favorite act of the whole show, of course, is Anthony Gatto’s juggling act. He juggles with his trademark style which is while bouncing a ball on his head. Anthony says he can do most of his juggling while bouncing a ball on his head.
